Abstract
Measuring the dimensions of motor vehicles is a crucial part of vehicle testing to ensure compliance with technical and roadworthiness requirements. Until now, this measurement process has been conducted manually, which is time-consuming, involves multiple personnel, and is prone to human error. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the use of ImageJ software as a more efficient and accurate method for measuring motor vehicle dimensions. This study employs an experimental method by comparing the results of manual vehicle dimension measurements with those obtained using ImageJ software. The research subjects consist of several vehicles required to undergo testing, measured for the following parameters: length, width, height, wheelbase, front overhang (FOH), rear overhang (ROH), approach angle, and departure angle. Data were obtained through direct measurements using conventional measuring tools as well as digital image-based measurements processed using ImageJ software. The results of the study show that measurements taken using ImageJ software can produce dimensional values that are very close to those obtained through manual measurements, with relatively small differences and error rates. In addition, the use of ImageJ offers greater time efficiency because the measurement process can be performed by a single operator using simpler equipment compared to manual methods. The use of digital images also allows for easier documentation of measurement results and enables reanalysis if necessary. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that ImageJ software has the potential to be used as an alternative method for measuring the dimensions of motor vehicles. This method can improve the efficiency of motor vehicle testing without reducing the accuracy of the measurement results, thereby supporting improved service quality at motor vehicle testing facilities.
