Abstract
Traffic congestion is a major issue at several signalized intersections in Bandung City, particularly at Cicaheum, Surapati 1, and Surapati 2 intersections. This study aims to analyze the performance of these intersections before and after signal coordination using the VISSIM traffic simulation software. The coordination was implemented as a traffic management strategy without adding new infrastructure, but rather by optimizing the signal cycle times at the intersections. The methodology involved collecting primary data such as vehicle volume, speed, and signal cycles, along with secondary data from relevant agencies. The study simulated four signal coordination alternatives, each analyzed based on queue length, delay, and Level of Service (LOS). The fourth alternative, which used a 60-second cycle and a two-phase system, showed the most significant performance improvement across all three intersections. Evaluation results indicate that optimal signal coordination can significantly reduce queue lengths and delays, and improve LOS to categories B. It is recommended that the Bandung City Government implement this signal coordination as an efficient solution to improve traffic flow without requiring physical road modifications.
