Abstract

The accident rate in Indonesia is still classified as very high to date. Based on sources from the Police, the rate of traffic accidents from 2018 to 2019 was mostly caused by vehicle factors related to meeting technical and roadworthy requirements, reaching 61%. After analyzing for vehicles operating on the road, it turns out that there are many failures or malfunctions on the speedometer scale contained in the vehicle. This study aims to design a vehicle speed measuring device based on the Arduino Uno Microcontroller and to determine the performance of the vehicle speed measuring system based on the Arduino Uno Microcontroller. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive t-test analysis technique to find out the comparison between the results of the test equipment and the actual scale. This research also uses 3 (three) sample vehicles with each vehicle being tested for wheel rotation and propeller shaft. Based on this research, it is known that this Speedometer Test Tool uses materials such as infrared sensors, LCD, 9 V battery, jumpers and a microcontroller which is then packaged into an acrylic form that has been made to make it more attractive. The speedometer has not worked optimally. The advantages of this tool are that the materials used for the manufacture of the Speedometer Test Equipment Design are relatively cheap and this tool can be used for testing the speedometer at UPT PKB and for its own weakness, the infrared sensor used in the test equipment This speedometer is very susceptible to light, thus affecting the results of rotational readings, the diameter of the wheel and propeller shaft greatly affects the speed results and the position of the marker for sensor readings also affects the resulting speed.
