Abstract
Transportation is a critical national infrastructure component supporting public mobility and road safety. The Indonesian government mandates periodic vehicle inspections (uji berkala) every six months to ensure passenger transport vehicles meet technical and roadworthiness standards. While older vehicles are generally more susceptible to component deterioration that may affect inspection compliance, vehicle age alone does not conclusively determine outcomes, as maintenance quality and other operational factors also play a considerable rol This study employed a quantitative research approach utilizing binary logistic regression analysis. A total of 80 large bus passenger vehicles undergoing periodic inspections at UPPKB Pulogadung between February and April 2026 were selected as the research sample through purposive sampling, with a balanced proportion of 40 passing and 40 failing vehicles. Vehicle age was classified into two categories: less than 10 years and 10 years or more. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software, with vehicle age as the independent variable (X) and periodic inspection outcome as the dichotomous dependent variable (Y = 1 for pass, Y = 0 for fail). The findings demonstrate that vehicle age exerts a statistically significant effect on periodic inspection outcomes, with a significance value of 0.008 (p < 0.05). Each additional year of vehicle age reduces the probability of passing the inspection by 13.0%, as indicated by an Odds Ratio of 0.870. The Nagelkerke R² value of 0.124 reveals that vehicle age accounts for only 12.4% of the variance in inspection outcomes, while the remaining 87.6% is attributable to extraneous factors, including inadequate vehicle maintenance, driver human error during testing, and the degraded condition of components such as braking systems, suspension, lighting, and steering mechanisms.
