Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors causing accidents and their fatality rates on the Semarang-Batang Toll Road. The analyzed factors include human factors, vehicle factors, road and environmental conditions, as well as the impact of ODOL (Over Dimension Over Load) vehicles. Additionally, this study seeks to determine the relationship between accident-causing factors and fatality rates and to provide appropriate recommendations for improving safety policies on this toll road. The research employs a quantitative approach utilizing secondary data. Data analysis is conducted using Microsoft Excel and the Chi-Square Test in SPSS software. The findings indicate that driver-related factors are the primary cause of accidents, contributing to a high fatality rate. However, there was a decrease in the number of accidents from 2022 to 2023, suggesting improvements in driving safety aspects. Based on these findings, the recommended action is to implement regular road safety campaigns to enhance drivers' awareness of traffic regulations. This initiative is expected to create a safer toll road environment and reduce the number of accidents in the future. Keywords: traffic accidents, fatality rate, causal factors, Semarang-Batang toll road, safety campaign.
